Prof. Dr. Bülent Bayraktar is Head of the Department of Sports Medicine at Istanbul University, Istanbul Faculty of Medicine. He became a specialist in 1999, associate professor in 2005 and professor in 2011, and served as founding dean of the university's Faculty of Sports Sciences. He has been a club and team physician and head of health boards at clubs including Galatasaray and Beşiktaş, served on the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) Health Board, and worked as a national team physician. Since 2013 he has been among the founders of Turkey's first child well-being and protection programme in sport within the TFF.
